You can also spray your feet or wipe them down with a cloth soaked in this solution after you shower, just make sure you get them completely dry afterwards. The affected areas can be applied with few drops of oil, but to prevent spreading of the infection one should wash the hands after each application. For two weeks, this should be done thrice a day.

Tea tree oil has healing properties too that helps the region to recuperate, while getting rid of stubborn marks caused because of the infection too. However, if the infection has open areas, avoid direct application of the oil. You can dilute the same in such cases.

Grape Fruit Seed Extract

This can fight off athlete’s foot because it has anti-fungal properties. The feet should be rubbed with a few drops of grapefruit seed oil thrice a day. Socks can also be disinfected by adding a few drops to the washing machine for preventing the infection from spreading.
For avoiding more contamination, hands should be washed after they have touched areas that are affected by athlete’s foot. This anti-fungal and natural remedy doesn’t let the infection spread further.

Feet Hygiene

The area between your toes should be dried out after bathing or swimming. Shoes that enable your feet to breathe should be used instead of those that trap moisture. Before wearing the shoes again, they should be aired out for 24 hours.Cotton socks should be worn indoors instead of shoes as they absorb moisture. For avoiding excessive moisture accumulation near your feet, the socks should be changed twice in a day.


Yogurt is very effective in fighting fungal infections like athlete’s foot. The live acidophilus bacteria present in plain yogurt helps keep fungal and bacterial infections in check. Buy plain yogurt with live, active cultures.Eat one cup of plain yogurt in the morning and in the evening. You can add two more cups of yogurt if your athlete’s foot is severe. Eat yogurt daily until the infection is gone completely.

Salt And Warm Water Soak

Warm salt water should be used for soaking your feet for 10 minutes. For every cup of water, there should be 1 teaspoon salt. Some baking soda should be dabbed between the toes after they have been dried. Salt has been known to reduce swelling caused because of the infection, while also healing the area.
