Consume Basil

Basil can be used to cure the problem of high cholesterol. An individual can consume a tea prepared with the use of basil leaves and water.It is advisable to drink basil tea before each meal to obtain effective results.



Grind an onion in a juicer. Add one teaspoon of honey in a teaspoon of onion juice.  Alternatively, take one cup of buttermilk and mix one finely chopped onion along with one-quarter teaspoon of pepper in it. Consume it on daily basis.


Brown Rice

Brown rice is affluent in lots of minerals, fiber and vitamins. If you want to lower your cholesterol level, then replace white rice with brown rice, as its  bran contain highly saturated oil which plays a vital role in balancing the cholesterol levels. One cup of brown rice provides 11 percent fiber


Consume Water

Drinking 8 to 10 glasses of water in a day can help in reducing the high cholesterol level. Consumption of water can help in removing excess cholesterol  from the body.

 Fenugreek Seeds

Fenugreek seeds is considered as one of the most effective home remedies for controlling high cholesterol level.

An individual can soak fenugreek seeds ( 2 or 3 teaspoons) in a glass of water before going to sleep at night. Drinking this water empty stomach in the morning can reduce high cholesterol level.

 Coriander Leaves/Seeds

An individual can consume water containing the extract of coriander leaves to reduce high cholesterol. To obtain effective results, this remedy should be used for a minimum period of 1 month.

Another option is to boil coriander seeds ( 1 teaspoon) in a glass of water. Consumption of this mixture 2 – 3 times in a day can provide highly effective results.

 Garlic Cloves

Consumption of 3 or 4 garlic cloves on a daily basis can help in lowering the cholesterol level.Drinking a glass of milk containing  garlic (2 or 3 cloves) is another home remedy to reduce bad cholesterol.

 Sunflower Seeds

Consumption of sunflower seeds (half teaspoon) with a glass of warm water can also help in reducing the level of high cholesterol. Another option is to consume food prepared with the use of sunflower oil.

 Olive Oil

Olive oil contains monounsaturated fatty acids and is considered as one of the most effective home remedies for high cholesterol. Consumption of olive oil can help in controlling bad cholesterol (LDL- Low Density Lipoprotein) and increasing good cholesterol (HDL- High Density Lipoprotein ).


Consumption of warm water (1 cup) containing honey (1 teaspoon) early in the morning can help an individual in the treatment of high cholesterol.Another option is to add lime juice (1 teaspoon) or cider vinegar to the mixture.

Eat Yogurt

Regular consumption of yogurt can also help an individual in lowering the cholesterol level. It is advisable to eat yogurt with each meal in order to obtain quick results.

Consume Lime Tea

Consumption of lime tea 3 – 4 times in a day can help in removing excess cholesterol. Lime tea can be prepared with the use of lemon juice, ginger and honey ( 2 teaspoons).
