It is usually called Pyrosis or acid indigestion. Though, it is named heartburn, but it has nothing to do with the heart. Usually, the pain starts from the chest and makes its way to the neck and throat. Occasional heartburn can be eliminated to a great extent by bringing changes in the lifestyle and using home remedies.
Home Remedies For Heartburn
Consume Aloe Vera Juice
Intake of aloe vera juice can reduce heartburn. It is advisable to drink aloe vera juice (1/4th cup) 15 – 20 minutes before each meal to obtain effective results .This remedy should be used on a regular basis to obtain quick relief.
Baking Soda Powder
Baking soda powder (1/2 teaspoon) can be mixed in a glass of water and consumed on a regular basis to deal with the problem of heartburn. If an individual experiences severe heartburn, the quantity of baking soda can be increased.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Consumption of apple cider vinegar can also provide relief from heartburn. Intake of a glass of water containing apple cider vinegar (2 teaspoons) and honey (2 teaspoons) can help intreating the problem of heartburn.
Intake of a tea prepared with the use of marshmallow can help in curing heartburn. This tea should be consumed 3 – 4 times in a day to get effective results.
Drink Vegetable Juices
An individual can consume vegetable juice (carrot, cucumber, radish, beetroot and so on) in order to get relief from heartburn. Consumption of cabbage juice (empty stomach) in the morning can provide better results.
Chewing a gum can be a very good option. Chewing gum really helps because it stimulates salivary flow rate. If you are allergic to peppermint, try other flavoured sugar- free chewing gums.
Regular consumption of lemon juice (half teaspoon) and bicarbonate (a few drops) with water (1 cup) can help in reducing heartburn.
Consumption of a tonic prepared by boiling fennel seeds (2 teaspoon) in a cup of water can also help an individual in dealing with the problem of heartburn. Regular use of this remedy can give highly effective results.
Add one tablespoon of ginger juice to 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Mix it together and add 8 oz. of lukewarm water and 2 tablespoon of honey. Stir the mixture well. Drink this mixture. Else, drink ginger tea. You can also consume it raw or cooked. It is one of the oldest remedies to alleviate heartburn.
An individual can consume potato juice half an hour prior to each meal to treat the problem of heartburn. Potato juice mixed with carrot juice can also be consumed. Consumption of raw potato on a daily basis can also provide effective results.
Consumption of raw papaya is highly effective in treating the problem of heartburn. Papaya juice (1 cup) containing cardamom powder (half teaspoon) can be consumed to obtain relief from heartburn.
Regular intake of raw pineapple can treat heartburn. Consumption of pineapple juice can help an individual in curing the problem of heartburn.
Regular intake of water (1.5 – 2 litres) can help in providing relief from heartburn. It is interesting to note that consumption of water with each meal can help in treating the symptoms of heartburn.
